We have an exciting opportunity to join our health information management team as an Electronic Document Specialist.
POSITION SUMMARY
The HIM Electronic Document Specialist supports the services related to the integrity of the integrated electronic health record (EHR). The HIM Electronic Document Specialist is responsible for accurately and timely assigning and validating the correct index values related to the patient and the document type within the EHR.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviews medical record documentation in electronic work queues and accurately assigns the correct index values for the patient medical records and the document classification.
Actively manages various indexing-specific and other assigned work queues, electronic and manual, to ensure timely indexing and availability into the EHR.
Adheres to established company standards/policies and system workflow guidelines to complete, add and re-assign accounts to appropriate work queues for processing.
Identifies systematic problems and routes to the Data Integrity Manager for facility resolution.
Consistently meets or exceeds corporate productivity and turnaround time standards.
Consistently meets or exceeds corporate quality standard of 98% or greater.
Communicate effectively with providers and internal and external customer to facilitate document completion.
Provide excellent customer service in all interactions.
Assists in maintaining all equipment and supplies required to provide services in an optimal manner.
Promptly reports issues and trends not complying with facility or corporate policies/standards.
Assists in cross-training other employees as necessary.
Documents all workflows, including any alterations, modifications, and changes that will occur based on the processes that will be implemented or enhanced.
Assists and coordinates in the documentation of systems policies and procedures as well as training materials.
Works effectively on project teams and meets deadlines in accordance to manager’s expectations.
Able to work independently as a remote employee.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
2 years’ experience in performing tasks associated with system applications and/or general HIM required. Prior EPIC and or OnBase system experience preferred.
Experience with Microsoft applications is preferred.
