POSITION SUMMARY:
Customer-focused service and advanced clerical work and responsibilities in relation to the mission of Register of Wills and Clerk of the Orphans Court
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process applications for marriage licenses
Process duplicate certificates, marriage certifications and prepare documents for indexing and storage
Process Orphans’ Court and Register of Wills filings
Process Petitions for Grant of Letters and request appropriate companion documentation, such as affidavits and renunciations
Complete all daily cash drawer reconciliations associated with financial transactions
Administer oaths, certify and exemplify documents and receive affidavits
Identify advanced probate issues and transfer to Assistant/Associate Register for further action
Answer customer questions regarding all departmental services
Assist with community and public education programs, including attending, participating and preparing appropriate materials
Assist with records organization, storage, indexing, retrieval and preservation via traditional and electronic means
Create, diary and follow-up on notices of delinquent filings under applicable rules of court and statutes, such as Pa R.O.C.Pr. 5.6 and 6.12 and the Pennsylvania Guardianship law
Participate in ongoing training and cross-training to improve skills
Perform role of back-up to Orphans’ Court Liaison, if necessary
Review educational materials and programs presented to increase knowledge
Participate in satellite office, evening and weekend programs and travelling services, as assigned
General clerical work, including typing, dictation filing, organizing files and other tasks, as assigned
Other duties, as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

High School Diploma or equivalent
Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS-Windows, MS-Office
Computer keybpoarding skills of 35 wpm; filing, fax, printer, computer and other office equipment utilization skills
Professional demeanor and ability to communicate complex information with persons from all walks of life and educational levels
Experience in general office work and procedures with at least one year of equivalent office work experience
Familiarity and/or ability to learn methods, techniques and materials used in historical and legal research of public records
