Position Summary:
The Benefit Specialist is responsible for serving as the internal resource for various aspects of benefit plan administration, notably the management of eligibility on all carve out plans, audit and reconciliation as well as system reporting and plan set up expertise for Prism. The Benefit Specialist also creates and maintains strong working relationships with clients and vendors to ensure a consistent and compliant benefit administration experience.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Serve as Benefits Representative for “Tier 1” Client Implementations and act in supportive role on “Tier 2” and “Tier 3” Client Implementations
Serve as Benefits Representative for clients’ employee benefit brokers
Process member-level insurance coverage enrollments, changes, terminations, and COBRA processing using vendor portals for lines of coverage in which EmPower HR’s preferred broker partner is not the broker of record.
Perform monthly audit and reconciliation of all benefit plans in which EmPower HR’s preferred broker partner is not the broker of record and for master policy plans that have census-based enrollment.
Advise internal payroll processing teams regarding benefit billing adjustments.
Manage and troubleshoot the HR technology platform and process as it applies to client-level benefit plan set-up and transmission of applicable master policy eligibility file feeds.
Utilize HR technology platform to run reports as-needed specific to benefits.
Ensure internal teams, clients, and co-employees have access to necessary and up to date benefit material.
Serve as point person to review and resolve internal benefit related coverage and billing related inquires.
Education, Knowledge and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or related field. Equivalent work experience may be substituted for education
Two to four years of benefit administration or HRIS experience with a focus on benefit set up and reconciliation.
Familiarity with a variety of benefit related areas such as benefits administration, benefit compliance, and auditing/reconciliation.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, HRP/Prism, or related HRIS Software Programs.
