The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates for the Administrative Specialist position. The position is responsible for researching and helping coordinate employee engagement initiatives and events. Performs statistical analysis for organizational surveys and makes recommendations. Creates and maintains written content to drive internal employee engagement.
This recruitment will establish an Open Competitive and Promotional list to fill current and/or future vacancies which may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by the office of Airport Experience and Employee Services.

Requirements
Equivalent to an Associate’s Degree with major course work in Business or Public Administration or a related field, and three years of full-time office administrative, secretarial or technical experience related to training and wellness programs. Possession of a four-year college degree and prior lead or supervisory experience are desirable. A related Bachelor’s Degree may be substituted for the experience on a year-for-year basis for a maximum of two years. Preference may be given to applicants with public sector training and wellness experience and e-learning management system experience. Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. Licenses and Certification: Specified positions may require possession of a valid Nevada Class C driver’s license at time of hire.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
Residency Requirement: Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers’ license laws within 90 days of employment.
Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration. Note: all prospective hires must present two original government issued ID’s upon acceptance of job offer. Examples of acceptable ID’s include a Passport, Driver’s License or DMV issued ID, birth certificate, Social Security card, Voter Registration card, school issued ID with picture, etc.
Customs and Border Protection Security Seal Program: Specified positions in this job title may require a five year employment and residency history record check, and the ability to present original identity based documentation in order to meet the requirements for a Security Seal.
Physical Demands
Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment; vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Examples of Duties
Reserves rooms and equipment for all training classes, wellness workshops, onsite events, new employee orientation, etc. Manages internal employee engagement initiatives and provides recommendations for improvements. Researches new Community Enrichment Volunteer activities and coordinates activities. Builds training catalog, creates classes in online learning system, and runs reports. Manages award distributions for wellness platform. Posts and manages content for internal communication for all internal social media platforms. Analyzes alternatives and makes recommendations regarding such matters as team and quality improvement alternatives, administrative policies, productivity and procedure development and implementation. Assists with coordination of employee events. Develops computer-based training. Manages stay and exit interview process. Runs statistical reporting for all surveys and makes recommendations for improvements. Presents training classes. Maintains accurate records and files. Prepares a variety of technical, statistical and narrative reports, letters, memos and other written materials. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit’s service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. Develops various survey templates and assists with preparing oral presentations. May plan, assign, review and evaluate the work of technical or office support staff on a project or day-to-day basis. Uses standard office equipment including a computer, in the course of the work; drive a County, agency or personal motor vehicle or arrange for appropriate transportation in order to attend off-site meetings and visit other work sites.
Group Insurance: Health and dental insurance is available at a minimal expense to eligible employees, spouses and dependents. The County pays the monthly life insurance premium for eligible employees.Service Connected Disability Insurance: Eligible employees are covered by a Workman’s Compensation Program in accordance with the provisions of the Nevada Industrial Insurance Act (NRS Chapter 616) and the Nevada Occupational Diseases Act (NRS 617).Long-Term Disability Insurance: The County pays a monthly premium toward a long-term disability plan for eligible employees.Vacation: Vacation leave accrual is based on length of County employment. Initial accrual is at the rate of 3.08 vacation hours for each biweekly pay period.Sick Leave: Eligible employees accrue 3.7 hours of sick leave for each biweekly pay period. Employees completing 10 years of service accrue an additional .92 hours of sick leave per biweekly pay period.Miscellaneous Leaves: Court leave, military leave, parental leave, leave without pay, blood donor leave, education leave, and County promotional/transfer application examination leave are available (upon approval) for eligible permanent employees.Retirement: Full-time employees become a member of the Nevada State Public Employees Retirement System. Credit Union: Clark County employees and their families are eligible to join the Clark County Credit Union.Tuition Reimbursement: Subject to availability of funds, eligible employees may be awarded tuition reimbursement upon successful completion of pre-approved, job related courses.
