Job Description
The Tax Manager – International Tax Planning will work directly with the Director of Global Tax Planning, Senior Director of Global Tax Planning, and other members of the finance, legal and tax team in developing, supporting, and implementing global tax planning opportunities, including cash repatriation, reorganizations and/or other strategies to align tax with the business operations and support the Company’s overall business objectives.
Responsibilities:
Research complex tax issues to validate recommendations regarding US, non-US, and cross-border business transactions, including (1) identification of the tax characterization of the given transaction, (2) understanding US international tax implications (e.g., GILTI, FDII, BEAT and FTC implications), (3) coordinating with local markets and advisors to identify non-US tax implications, (4) identifying withholding tax/treaty issues, including tracking of withholding taxes on cross border transactions, and (5) analyzing ownership characteristics, tax basis, and other relevant U.S. and non-U.S. tax attributes of stock/assets held for disposition.
Analyze potential business transactions for tax efficient execution, coordination of legal documents (with both internal and external counsel) to ensure the Company is accurately protected by appropriately addressing risk and collaborate with deal team to ensure structuring alternatives are tax efficient while meeting business objectives.
Prepare/review step plans, memorandums, work plans, modeling, and other relevant documentation supporting recommendations to management for execution of transactions in a tax efficient manner.
Coordinate with functional groups within Tax to gather transaction details, prepare supporting documentation, ensure consistent treatment, and ensure all local and US tax and GAAP accounting impacts of transactions are thoroughly reviewed.
Participate in the development of tax-efficient cash repatriation strategies in coordination with the Corporate Treasury function and lead the oversight and execution of those strategies and the tracking of cash repatriated.
Prepare/Review internal calculations, work papers and memorandums to capture relevant transactions to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley/FIN 48.
Coordinate with Federal and International Tax Audit teams by preparing and/or reviewing responses to the IRS and other tax authorities to effectively manage audits, including IDRs and NOPAs.
Help manage and support local market finance teams with non-US tax audits.
Qualifications
Must be fully vaccinated (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) for COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination by start date.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
5+ years of relevant international tax experience
JD, CPA and or Masters of Taxation strongly preferred
Experience in a large corporate and/or public accounting environment
Excellent technical expertise and understanding of US and international tax regulations
Ability to research, analyze, and communicate complex tax issues
Detail-oriented individual who takes of ownership of projects, exercising initiative and follow- through
Ability to extract, analyze and review data and make appropriate recommendations to management
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong oral and written communicate skills, to be able to convey meaningful information clearly and concisely with all levels of management
Collaboration skills, open communication, and desire to work in a team environment
VAT knowledge is a plus
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
