The Opportunity
You will join our team of experts in software engineering and data science to design, deploy and operate software platforms for managing large scale genomics data. These include in-house developed state-of-the-art applications built with a modern tech stack and cloud based systems, designed to assist researchers and clinicians to understand the cause of severe undiagnosed genetic disorders. You will help to solve complex problems to enable hybrid on-premise and cloud based infrastructure and develop monitoring and management solutions for our big data systems and analysis workflows. You will also be working with the Centre for Population Genomics team developing petabyte-scale genomic data processing systems to solve some of the hardest problems in data science and genomics. By joining our team within one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes, you will grow and extend your existing skills in software engineering and cloud based infrastructure and gain exposure to the fascinating world of genetics, genomics, machine learning and big data.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Working closely with the Bioinformatics Methods team to design, implement and facilitate cloud based architectures for storing, processing and managing genomics data. We believe in “you build it, you run it” philosophy which means you will implement this from end-to-end from requirements elicitation, design, cutting-code, test to deployment. This will be done in an iterative fast-feedback style as our team is accustomed to.
