If you have a passion for making a difference, this could be your opportunity to join our transformative team.iPOSITION TITLE:iSocial Media InterniPOSITION SUMMARY:iThe Social Media Intern is responsible for coordinating the collection of stories and multimedia content (photos and video), working with the participants of the NSF REU / SURF undergraduate internship programs and high school internship program, and helping execute a social media campaign across key platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn. The person chosen for this role will work closely with various members of Scripps Research’s Office of Graduate Studies (OGS), as well as faculty members.The goal of this position is to create, compile, and curate the research and program-related experiences of the interns and graduate students and develop a social media strategy to increase the visibility of our program through their stories.The ideal candidate will exhibit a passion for science, experience writing in different media, and digital communications.iDetails of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.REQUIREMENTSRequires current enrollment in either a high school or college/university educational program. Undergraduate enrolled in a relevant scientific program, e.g., biological or life science, strongly preferred.Evidence of social media activity with a record of going beyond personal postings (e.g., school clubs, sport teams, volunteering activities)Writing and verbal skillsInterest in science-related topics, especially biology and chemistryAttention to detail and a high motivation to learnOrganizational and listening skillsProficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)Ability to collaborate in a teamAbility to be proactiveAbility to develop professional relationships easilyiADDITIONAL INFORMATION:Part-time: Up to 19 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week when school is not in session.This position is not eligible for benefits.This is a year-round position, not a summer intern or other short-term internship.iThe above statements describe the level of work performed and expected in general terms.
