The Department of Pathology has an exciting opportunity for a Full-time Supervisor, Laboratory Services in the UHealth Campus. The Supervisor, Laboratory Services provides technical direction and support to individual(s) serving as full time or part time technologists at assigned laboratory. This employee also conducts technical, administrative, and managerial functions under the supervision of managing staff.
Supervises the test performance of technologists, reviews preliminary test results on worksheets, monitors the recording and distribution of finalized reports, initiates deviation report investigations, and implements corrective actions.
Assists technical personnel in the resolution of test result discrepancies and performance of proficiency test exercises.
Oversees the orientation, training, and evaluation of competency for current and new laboratory testing personnel.
Assists with the management and scheduling of clinical laboratory personnel.
Performs occasional technical functions for activities related to the laboratory’s quality assurance program, licensure, or certification.
Interviews, hires, evaluates, counsels, and disciplines subordinate employees.
Assists in the development of departmental policies for employee bloodborne pathogen exposures, and oversees employee health exposures.
Collaborates with management in the education of medical students and allied technical personnel through specialized studies, scientific committees, and collaborative research.
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
Supervises the test performance of technologists responsible for all UHealth Tower, SCCC-UMHC, SCCC Satellites, Lennar, and BPEI POC activities
Manages the purchase, requisition, and maintenance of the laboratory stock of supplies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
Certification in relevant specialty or field
Knowledge of business and management principles.
Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
