As developer of globally used PLC software applications for mine hoists, you will make a footprint in the ABB mine hoist business. As a member of the global R&D team, covering different technology are-as of mine hoists, you will be part of a team that shapes the technical content of ABB mine hoists globally. Your innovative and qualitative solutions will enable our customers to reach their targets of both productivity and sustainability through best in-class technol-ogy. We are looking for candidates that can be physically located in one of the following Business Line Hoist locations: Västerås/Skellefteå in Sweden, Johannesburg in South Africa, Shanghai in China, Wroclaw in Poland, Brisbane in Australia, Montreal in Canada or Os-trava in Czech Republic.

Your responsibilities

• In the role of Senior PLC Software R&D Engineer, you will be contributing to technology and product development projects by identifying and implementing innovative solutions to control and monitor mine hoists. You execute assigned design and development activities focused on building solutions efficiently, structured, cost-effectively, user-friendly and in accordance with quality standards covering all the steps from understanding the customer value to ideating, defining, creating, testing, and documenting the developed software.
• Both independently and with colleagues, you recognize problems and provide input to both smaller solutions and bigger project ideas. You are up to date with the latest technologies and translate this into solutions bringing value to our customers and contributing to development of reliable, safe, versatile, and user-friendly solutions.
• You have a good understanding and apply applicable processes, standards, guidelines, and requirements including architectural and design constraints.
• Through well written technical documentation and training of other people in the developed solutions, you ensure we have a good knowledge transfer and can leverage all the great developments being done.

Your background

• University degree in relevant field and around 7 years of proven work experience in software devel-opment. You also have solid experience in PLC software development.
• Experience in CodeSys, SCADA, Indusoft Web Studio, ABB AC500 PLC and/or in development of solutions with demands on Safety Integrity Level (SIL) are meriting.
• Experience from industry, and mine hoist systems particularly, is an advantage.
• Being part of a global team, fluency in English written and spoken is a must.
