Supply Quality & Development Specialist

You will protect customers via applying risk-oriented quality assurance methodologies and corresponding supplier development. Qualify potential and existing external suppliers of direct materials and services within Electrification Business area in Napier; New Zealand. Reporting to the Quality and Operational Excellence Manager, you will perform supply quality issue resolution including supplier claims preparation. Identify and carry out development of supplier capabilities and performance in order to mitigate risks.

Your responsibilities

• Leading supplier performance evaluation and supplier quality development activities. Establishing and maintaining local supplier quality related procedures & practices.
• Driving the supplier qualification/re-qualification process and ensure the supply base is and remain fully qualified and compliant.
• Performing risk assessment and based on this, plan and conduct, or ensure, required supplier assessments including assessment reporting and non-conformance reporting.
• Performing required product surveillance at supplier manufacturing site.
• leading and executing upcoming supply issues like quality issues, late deliveries, non-conforming products or project services.
• Identifying improvements of supplier base capabilities and performance to ensure conformance with Customer and ABB requirements and the implementation of category strategy both on short and long term.
• Analyzing supplier nonconformance data to determine Supplier Parts Per Million (PPM) defect rate.

Your background

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or similar field
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Lean Six Sigma green belt preferred
• Strong Knowledge on current industry quality management tools and methodologies
• Advanced Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
• Experience in Power Electronic products
• Proven ability to manage complexity, plan and implement corrective and preventive actions that meets customer expectations.
• Effective at gaining collaboration and trust from with organisations.
• Analysis of complex data.
• A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
