Your Role

Software / Operations Engineers are one of the most important teams in Abyss. They liaise with internal customers to deliver complex, time-dependent data processing solutions. Incoming data include LIDAR, SONAR, ML inference, spatial, CAD and visual artifacts. The team is responsible for implementing and automating the various processing pipelines, in order to scale operations to ever-growing levels.

The team comprises highly competent software engineers with skills in robotics, computer vision, sensor technology and civil engineering.

About The Job

• Work with field engineers to incorporate a wide range of data into processing pipelines.
• Develop scalable AWS processing pipelines to ensure Abyss stays ahead of increasing customer requirements.
• Investigate and wrangle data from imaging, video, SONAR, LIDAR, IMU sensors.
• Help build and support best practices for data management and software development within the team.
• Participate in a culture of continuous improvement.
• Work with software engineering, machine learning, field robotics, business development and support teams to solve new and interesting problems.

About You

• Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills;
• Great Python development skills;
• Feel at home in a Linux environment;
• Strong experiment with Linux shell scripting;
• Experience in deploying and/or managing AWS services;
• Good software design and architecture skills;
• Experience in working with Agile values and principles;
• Experienced in the use of a source control system with a branching development methodology, ideally git; and
• 3-5 years of practical experience in the industry.

Highly Desirable

• Basic understanding of computer vision, data science, machine learning, and robotics;
• Experience with web technologies, such as React and JavaScript;
• Experience with tools such as MetaShape, Cloud Compare, NavisWorks; or
