Academic Innovations Hiring for Educational Journalist at Remote Full Time

Educational Journalist

The role of the Educational Journalist is to ensure that the company receives media attention through traditional and non-traditional channels (i.e., print, online, in-house publications, etc.). The ideal candidate must have exceptional writing skills and be an experienced interviewer with a portfolio of work.

In addition, the Educational Journalist will ensure consistency of the company’s message across websites, in the media, newsletters, videos, and through email campaigns and other promotional efforts. They will act as a coordinator for the other members of the media team (staff and consultants).

Key areas of responsibility

Write weekly online newsletters

Work with the media to place news releases

Interview educators and write success stories based on interviews (written and video)

Post consistently to our social media group

Work with video production team to write scripts as needed

Execute a strategic plan for media presence, nationally and regionally

Copywriting and editing marketing material as requested

Qualifications

• Experienced journalist with excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• A passion to support educators with innovation in the way our children are educated
• Experience with the different social media platforms for use in business
• The skills to work virtually, including daily Zoom meetings
• Relationship Builder: The ability to pick up the phone and communicate as necessary with educators and the media, rather than default to digital means
• A can-do personality who is a multitasker, self-starter, and strategic thinker
• Someone who is looking for a long-term position (most of our team members have been with the company 10 to 25 years)

Employment Specifics

• Fulltime – 35 to 40 hours per week
• Opportunity to work remotely via our online Virtual Office app
• Flexible hours with core required hours of 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM PST – Monday through Friday
• Travel: a couple times a year for company meetings or conferences

The main office is in St. George, Utah, but this position can work remotely
