The SEMH Intervention Service works with all schools and phases across the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead to increase capacity and affect positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are looking for a SEMH Coach / Mentor to support schools with children at risk of permanent exclusion to meet their needs and engage them in learning.
About the role
This exciting and rewarding role will promote positive change in the lives and life chances of vulnerable children with SEMH that are struggling to engage positively in education. Through holistic approaches and exploring the narrative and communication behind challenging behaviours you will coach and empower school staff to meet the needs of this complex and vulnerable cohort.
Main purposes of the role:
- To support the learning and emotional regulation of children and young people, with an SEMH need, who are at risk of suspension or permanent exclusion.
- Under the direction of the SEMH Coordinator, to support school staff to have a better understanding of children and young people’s SEMH needs.
- To support staff to plan and deliver effective strategies, through modelling and coaching, to meet the needs of children and young people identified with SEMH.

About you
To be an SEMH Coach/Mentor you will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of vulnerable children and young people as well as demonstrating the following;
- Have experience of working in a school setting with children who have struggled to engage in learning due to an SEMH need.
- Be educated to Level 3 or equivalent.
- Be emotionally literate and an excellent communicator.
- Hold an understanding that relationships are key to engagement with hard to reach children and young people.
- Have a high level of resilience, compassion, empathy and forgiveness.
- It is essential that you have a full driving licence and daily use of a vehicle.
