Actalent Hiring for Industrial Engineer at Bedford, Indiana Full Time

Description:

This is a Union Facility with about 500 total employees. The facility has a foundry, machining area, and small assembly. See work environment section for more. The company currently believes they are under utilizing their forklift drivers and because of that they want to evaluate all Forklift Routing within the facility to ensure they optimize the usage of their people and reduce cost.

The candidate will be tasked to this forklift project and responsibilities include reviewing data, performing time studies, reviewing plant layout, and recommending adjustments to current utilization.

The candidate may also provide support to other areas of the plant. This includes having daily throughput meetings where they meet with production/tooling engineers, maintenance to present data from previous day and week. With that data they identify areas to improve product throughput. The ability to analyze data and provide suggestions is important. They will also support plant layout changes in their department. AutoCAD is utilized for this.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists in establishing operational methods and work standards using various measurement techniques

Analyzes existing operations and proposes cost justified improvements

Optimizes use of floorspace, materials, personnel and equipment

Assists in planning new facilities, operations and/or relocation of same

Provides information for various management systems

Regular contact with others outside the work group

Monitors adherence to recommended safety procedures and good housekeeping

Industrial Engineer Responsible for Die Cast department throughput improvement data

Create and update AutoCAD layout requests for Die Cast North

Ability to analyze data and determine opportunities of improvements in manufacturing process

Lead daily TIP meeting with production, process engineering, maintenance, and quality

Manage requests for data and create Excel workbooks to analyze large data sets
