Actalent Services is seeking to add Medical Assistants to our teams in the Portland Area!

FLOAT Medical Assistant

OVERVIEW:

Under the direction of a clinician, performs various patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the needs of patients in an OB/GYN clinic practice. Prepares equipment and assists clinicians during patient examinations and treatment.

JOB DUTIES:

• Rooms 20-24 patients a day on average

• Will likely support multiple providers – will not be a 1:1 ratio

• Obtains patients’ history and takes vital signs: temperature, pulse, blood pressure and weight/height

• Updates and maintains clinicians’ daily office schedule

• Answers and responds to patients phone calls

• Schedules laboratory tests, x-rays, special tests and procedures as instructed by the clinician

• Correctly label all specimens

• May perform blood draws

• Enters patient’s medical history into EMR (Epic)

• Works collaboratively with other members of the health care team

• Audits coding after patient encounter completed to verify services rendered are documented in EMR correctly

• Maintains a clean working environment

• Assists clinician in completing work release (FMLA) paperwork

• Reviews and maintains various logs and records

• Work in close partnership with clinician(s) as an integral and valued member of the care team.

• Tee-up day by entering information from patient-completed forms into electronic medical record. Preload paper or outside records. Prepare patient information for clinician review prior to appointment

• Escort patients to exam rooms. Obtain history and perform initial assessment of vital signs-all while building rapport, helping people feel comfortable and setting the stage for a successful clinician visit

• Facilitate patient care by assuring clinician’s orders are entered and follow-up occurs

• Collaborate with other departments to meet patient needs (scheduling, benefits, etc.)

MUST HAVES:

• 2+ years of Medical Assisting experience

• Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA, NCCT, RMA, AMT, etc.) (for float, they HAVE to be certified)

• Will also accept an LPN cert in lieu of a MA cert

• Graduated from an MA accredited program

• CPR certified (or ability to be certified within first 90 days of hire)

• Experience with EMRs – Epic experience is preferred

• Works well with teams/team player

• Strong communication skills both written and orally

• Personality & culture fit are going to be BIG – they need MAs who have a willingness/hunger to learn, are easy to communicate with, reliable, excellent patient service/mindset and have the ability to multi-task
