Description:

• Conducts a significant level of formulation and application work in the lab as defined in the project plan. Asks appropriate questions to clarify requirements, expectations, and critical performance parameters.

• Plans, designs, and performs complex experimental work. Interprets, compiles, and reports experimental results through written lab reports and presentations.

• Documents lab results through appropriate means including laboratory notebooks, interim and full reports, project meeting minutes, and monthly summaries. When visiting customers, writes reports with corresponding action items.

• Handle projects from start to finish with minimal supervision including – formulation, process development, batching, and stability studies.

• Correspond with raw material suppliers for R&D samples, pricing as well as technical information request.

• Compile and analyze 3rd party test information as needed to report to Technical Director.

• Maintain R&D tracker for marketing submissions, product formula evaluation, lab batching schedule, stability, safety testing, etc.

• Prepare technical documents for claim substantiation for managerial review as needed.

• Maintain the R&D product stability program with pull dates and submit samples for testing based on stability protocol.

• Work cross-functionally with the team in internal and external manufacturing plants and warehouses.

• Maintain adherence to cGMPs (current Good Manufacturing Procedures), GLPs (Good Laboratory Procedures), and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Attention to detail and analytical thinking, ability to apply general concepts to specific problems to produce positive results is a must.

• Basic formulation knowledge in the home care and industrial cleaning segment areas

• Work experience in the application of surfactants and polymers to specific home care and I&I cleaning segment areas.

• Ability to prepare and give presentations to internal colleagues and external customers

• Must be able to work with minimal supervision on multiple complex projects.

• Attention to detail and analytical thinking, ability to apply general concepts to specific problems to produce positive results is a must.

• Must be familiar with laboratory equipment used in the process of creating bench batches.

• Has basic working knowledge and understanding of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of personal care products

• 3+ years of related experience working with cleaning and antimicrobial chemistry, surfactants, disinfectants, and materials used in industrial and institutional cleaning products, or associated technical field

• Minimum 3-4 years of formulation experience. Must have formulated products from start to finish(cleaners/degreasers, glass cleaners, bathroom cleaners, disinfectants, etc.)

• Must have a robust knowledge of basic ingredient interaction and should be able to develop lab-scale processes.
