You will work with our Commercial Events Manager to identify, plan and engage with new business opportunities to increase commercial events and education offer at Merrist Wood College, including planning new activities which will bring new audiences to the enjoyment of learning outdoors.
You will also work closely with our marketing team to ensure effective promotion of commercial activities and help maintain an online presence through our company website and social media platforms.
This is a permanent, full-time role based at Merrist Wood College. The successful candidate will need to be flexible in working hours as most events happen at weekends, evenings and school holidays, however we can accommodate homeworking in quieter periods.
What do you need to be successful in this role?
You will have excellent planning, administration, and organisational skills, along with experience in a customer service environment. Event planning experience is desirable, but not essential.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in making events management a career and there really is no limit in terms of your personal growth, development and career by joining one of the largest Education Providers in the UK. You will have a comprehensive development programme as part of induction together with peer-to-peer learning, a formal development plan and support at every step of the way to set you up for success.
You’ll also be working within a beautiful 420-acre estate of woodlands, wetlands, livestock, gardens and grasslands. Merrist Wood College has a national and international reputation amongst employers and industry specialists and a long history of providing unrivalled education in the land-based sectors, offering outstanding facilities for floristry, horticulture, landscaping and garden design, including a campus nursery, workshops and design studios.
The college is now part of the Activate Learning group with the purpose of reviving the offering and environment of the campus. We have been through a period of transformation and improvement to bring the college up to a world class facility and are undergoing significant investment to deliver this, including a multimillion-pound contribution from the Department of Education, so it’s an exciting time to join us!
