AECOM is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to be based in Austin or San Antonio, TX. This position is expected to begin in May/June 2023.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: Prepare drawings and visual aids either as self-created sketches or in collaboration with a CAD Designer / drafting team. Perform mechanical design calculations and standard computations including but not limited to pipe sizing, pipe stress, pipe hydraulics, thermal growth, and finite element analysis. Prepare Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) Prepare technical specifications for mechanical equipment and fabricated components. Apply standard practices and techniques, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results and follow operations through series of related detailed steps or process. Provide field support (travel required) for vendor surveillance, construction support and equipment start-up. Provide supervision on all aspects of project deliverables sufficient to provide professional engineering seal / certification
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursing a bachelor’s degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering or related field with the intent to continue enrollment after an internship. Must have completed 2 years of study in the applicable program. Valid Driver’s License is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience/interest in one or more of the following areas: hydrology and hydraulics, stormwater management, green infrastructure / low impact development, water quality modeling / monitoring, coastal engineering and analyses, coastal science, and civil infrastructure design. Knowledge of the following software: AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS.
Additional Information: Relocation is not available for this position. Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.
