Job Description

Our diverse Town Planning Practice is recruiting an experienced Principal Planning Consultant to join our busy Planning, Environment and Sustainability business across the Island of Ireland. As a national team, we are flexible in terms of base office location across our offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Belfast.

We operate as a national town planning team and as a more traditional regional planning practice – you could be working on a range of both big infrastructure SID projects as well as more local development projects to the relevant Local Authority/Council.
We work flexibly, delivering much of our work remotely whilst benefiting from a strong planning team culture in one of our 15 main offices across Ireland the UK. You can develop your own interests and you will be encouraged to contribute to the growth of the planning practice at all stages in your career, for example by taking responsibility for innovation initiatives, business development, quality and collaboration.

Main duties would include:
Leading the coordination and delivery of the planning application package, working alongside the Environmental planning team that undertakes the EIA assessments. Undertaking site reviews and pre application discussions on major proposals, being proactive and problem solving to achieve deliverable outcomes.
Contributing to service improvements to achieve cost efficiency and effectiveness whilst project managing your work to ensure client KPI’s are met/exceeded in terms of timeliness and quality of output, adding value wherever possible.
Contributing to the delivery and improvement of business management systems, procedures and processes and ensure compliance with the company’s Quality Assurance policies and procedures.
Providing support and guidance to peers and more junior staff to distribute knowledge and ensure contemporary planning issues and legislation are cascaded and understood.
Supporting the growth of the team by making a positive contribution to business development, securing repeat work and applying a commercial lens to all work undertaken and behaviours.
Working closely with marketing to promote and sell our services
To maintain a high profile within the profession via networking.
Lead and support tender proposals/ bids .
Maintaining a good understanding of policies relating primarily to infrastructure and mixed use developments, with a particular focus on the energy and renewables sector.
Minimum Requirements :
Experience working on a wide range of development schemes (including public sector projects)
High level of ability to prioritise and manage a workload whilst working flexibly.
Excellent knowledge, understanding and application of current and emerging planning legislation.
Direct ROI Planning experience
Experience managing and working as part of multi-disciplinary teams
Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills with experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality
Corporate member of the Irish Planning Institute, Chartered Member of the RTPI or equivalent.
Full current driving license and access to a form of transport to carry out the duties of the post.
Qualifications
Proven post-graduate experience in a consultancy or public sector role
Experience of planning system in Ireland, Northern Ireland and UK / Europe
Understanding of Environmental Impact Assessment
