About the role
What you need to know:
AIG is looking for a driven individual to assume a leading role on the PCG Business Insights team, focused on creating data driven solutions utilizing a combination of local, on premises and cloud-based technologies, to help deliver profitable growth for Private Client Group business. This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of end-to-end analytics solutions that enables the organization to meet its prescribed goals through data-driven insights. The Data Engineering Manager is also expected to manage junior level resources to support delivery, build effective relationships with key stakeholders and possess expert level technical competencies required to design and implement analytics solutions that enable the organization to make use of data as a strategic asset. This highly impactful role will drive the overall execution of projects centered around simplifying and modernizing PCG data as it relates to our analytics and actuarial ecosystems and being a leading edge on the advancement of data engineering capabilities in AIG.
Other tasks will include:
Be a champion of our data by driving our culture and building a cross collaboration between Data, Actuarial, Finance, etc.
Provide leadership in understanding the future state of data domains and how they can be leveraged in data decisions.
Guide your team on how to use advanced statistical tools and methods to address high impact opportunities.
Explore and profile data, synthesize findings, prepare presentations, and present findings to all levels of management.
Provide research, analysis, and support to identify business opportunities and issues.
What we’re looking for:
High level SQL skills and SAS skills. Experience with Java, R, Python, Spark and other AWS technologies
Solid understanding of the technology surrounding data and insights/visualization tools
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, key leaders, and subject matter experts to inspire understanding and agreement.
Ability to analyze critical business data requirements, needs and gaps, identify deficiencies and potential opportunities, and develop approaches and methodologies for translating them into application.
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong decision-making ability, self-motivated and results oriented.
Ability to work effectively and independently in a multi-task, high-volume environment.
Strong to advanced skills in Agile frameworks, query languages such as SQL, Python, R, and SAS, data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI and in Microsoft Office suite of products preferred.
Manage in a participative manner. Ability to develop employees by hiring and retaining exceptional talent.
Cross functional experience is preferred.
Education and Experience:
BS/BA Degree (MS preferred) preferably in Computer Science, Finance, Statistics, Math or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 3-5 years of insurance industry or financial services experience in personal Property/Auto product management, underwriting, actuarial or analytics capacity.
Minimum 3 or more years of experience with data analysis and preparation, including experience with very large data sets.
Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in leading people.
