About the Team
The Ground Software Team is part of the Design Engineering division of AAP and is responsible for providing ‘fit for purpose/fit to contract’ products and services in accordance with service, performance and regulatory requirements.
The team is responsible for driving innovation initiatives, not only within Australia and Pacific region but also at a Global Airbus level to support Airbus’ military and civil platforms. This includes developing and supporting software products for internal/global departments, local/international customers and our various industry partners.
The team specialises in ground-based databases, simulations, mobile applications, and Mixed Reality (Augmented and Virtual Reality) applications for various R&D, operations, training and maintenance purposes.
Due to the innovation and cutting-edge technology used in these products, the team has won multiple awards over the years locally and internationally.
Recently, we have transformed our business model and as such are looking to grow our current Software Development team.

About the role
As a Software Engineer you will join a collaborative team of engineers in Brisbane developing innovative software products to support latest Airbus systems and platforms. This would include:
- Performing software engineering activities focusing on software requirements analysis, development, unit testing, reviewing, integration and testing.
- Development of Windows applications, Virtual and Augmented Reality applications (on HTC Vive and HoloLens 2) and contribute to the UI/UX development.
- Contribute to the design and development of Unity software, 3D assets and art/multimedia assets for use in Airbus Mixed Reality applications.
- Establishing and maintaining collaboration with global Airbus Mixed Reality teams and partners.
- Maintain data files, engineering records and electronic databases as required to accurately report and record engineering decisions
- Lead and mentor less experienced engineers as required.
About you
To be successful in this role, it is essential to integrate into a team environment, have well developed relationship skills as well as excellent verbal and written skills. You will need to be someone who is able to work autonomously to tight deadlines and work comfortably in a continuous improvement working environment. Ideally, we are looking for someone who can hit the ground running.
The skills and experience best suited to this role:
- Bachelor of Computer Science / Bachelor of Engineering degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Software engineering)
- 5+ years software engineering/development experience
- Working knowledge of software development methodologies and frameworks e.g. Agile, Scrum
- Experience with software development in some or all of the following is mandatory:
- C#, .NET, X-Code, SQL, Java, Python, C/C++
- Experience with Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (in Microsoft eco-system) development is highly desirable
- Experience with 3D modelling / art development in some or more of the following are highly desirable:
- 3ds Max, Blender, Adobe Cloud, Gimp, Photoshop, Vector Graphics)
- Experience with game development engines (e.g. Unity, Unigine)
