The Role

Airservices engineering office in Melbourne manages and supports a variety of high reliability, safety critical systems and technologies used for the for the provision of Air Traffic Control and Air Navigation Services across Australia. As a software engineering specialist, you will be responsible for:

• Investigating, managing and implementing corrections and enhancements on the supported systems
• Controlling system configurations
• Reviewing and developing system support documentation
• Managing and implementing system security controls
• Preparing test plans and completing testing for system changes
• Providing subject matter expertise for the implementation of new systems

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will have:

• Expertise in multiple programming languages, such as s C, C++, Java (SE and EE), Python, SQL, ASP .Net MVC
• Software and systems support experience
• Windows and Linux systems knowledge, including system administration and writing batch/shell scripts
• Strong systems engineering and documentation skills with experience in preparing requirements specifications, design documents, test plans and system support manuals
• Experience working in small teams and providing coaching and mentoring to less experienced engineers
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with a variety of engineers, project managers, system users and technical support personnel across Australia
• An appropriate Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology degree from an Australian Tertiary Institution, or certified equivalent international qualification
