The Material Handler II is a key position in the Company and will support and contribute to the company goals of profitability, return on investment, inventory turnover, and accident prevention. The Material Handler II, under general supervision, will perform a combination of tasks to handle parts and materials for Receiving, Manufacturing, and Shipping operations. Will read production schedules, customer orders, work orders and shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed. Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of inventory and be assigned to a particular work center or various centers.

Essential Functions of the Job:
SHIPPING/SERVICE PARTS DEPARTMENT
-
Focus, communicate, encourage and contribute to Safety in all aspects of the job and all company meetings.

Check and verify inventory problems or errors.
-
Check and verify units to match customer order via the load sheet.
-
Pick, pack and prepare product for loading.
-
Operate a material handling device(s) to load, retrieve or move product throughout the facility.
-
Disassembly of units may be required.
-
Respond to request from Supervisor to locate needed parts and product.
-
Use standard measuring equipment for example; load height stick of 13.6’ for DOT regulations.

Determine basic space requirement and trailer size per product being loaded.
-
Pick, pack, prepare and ship customer orders via: commercial carrier and/or export container or customer pick-ups.

Mark material with identifying information using stencil, crayon or other marking device.

Record amount of material or items received or distributed by processing issue, transfer, receipt or sale orders.

Load material safely using authorized equipment.

Weigh or count items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards, or insure compliance with height, weight and length.

Use print and/or computer to access information or data.

Use computer with inventory scanning device, Excel, and Outlook.

Maintain good housekeeping and safe area practices.

Perform all other duties assigned by Supervisor.
RECEIVING DEPARTMENT
-
Unload or load Trucks.
-
Receive incoming inventory with electronic scanning device unless directed otherwise by Supervisor.

Check and verify incoming material meets Bush Hog’s packaging and label standards.

Safely operate overhead crane.
-
Interpret pick sheet(s), match part number and quantities against pick sheet(s).

Pick parts from assigned locations, place correct production ID tag on each pallet, and deliver parts to specific locations. Transfer inventory from receiving location to Manufacturing location via electronic scanning device whenever possible.

Operate material handling device(s).

Use computer with inventory scanning device, Excel and Outlook.

Execute 5s program.

Kit orders and build sub-assemblies.
-
Maintain good housekeeping and safe area practices.
-
Perform all other duties assigned by Supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):
-
Capable of performing standard measurements using geometric tools (Tape Measure, Protractor, etc.).
-
Basic math, reading and computer data skills needed.
-
Minimum dexterity required for use of hand power tools, nail guns, skill saw, drills, impact gun, strap bander, hoist and cranes.
-
Ability to operate a material handling device(s).

Ability to lift, push or pull 50 pounds alone and 100 pounds with assistance.

Must be able to speak, hear and see to perform duties to communicate clearly.

Have a valid Driver’s License.
Education and Experience:
-
High School diploma or GED required.
-
1+ years’ experience in material handling preferred.
