• Full stack development in early project stages
• 8 month max term contract with potential for extension
• Permanent position based in Sydney CBD (with WFH flexibility)

The purpose of the role is to develop, deliver and support full-stack software solutions that meet the requirements of internal customers and to support the strategic direction for the technical and business initiatives undertaken by the Alinta IT ESD – Merchant Systems team.

As a successful candidate, you will have several years of experience as a developer, with a broad range of IT skills to help deliver complete solutions to our stakeholders. You will be self-motivated and be part of an over-arching strategic effort to uplift and modernise the technology stack used at Alinta Energy.

This role reports to the IT development team based in Sydney and will be required to deliver work that is scoped and prioritised by the IT Enterprise Service Delivery Merchant Systems team, ensuring compliance and providing input into the design principles and technology choices set by this team.

Additional responsibilities will include:

• Application design, development and enhancement tasks
• Liaise with Alinta stakeholders to develop an in-depth understanding of business requirements
• Prepare detailed application technical specifications with solution architect
• Carry out application-level database administration
• Assist in the development and maintenance of entity relationship data models
• Contribute to the development and implementation of standards, procedures, and processes to promote and maintain information systems quality
• Participate in training and development activities appropriate to the position
• Working with Alinta’s IT Group on the analysis, designing, coding, testing, and implementing of applications
• Develop system and operational documentation
• Ensure that applications are developed as per agreed schedule on time and budget, and adhering to design and systems security standards
• Provide input to project planning including development effort estimates
• Evaluate products and tools as requested

To be successful you will have:

• Demonstrated experience and contemporary knowledge of application design and development of medium to large-scale applications, including experience with development tools
• Skills and experience in analysing business processes and requirements, and the ability to prepare functional and technical documentation
• Self-motivated, able to work on independent projects to deliver results
• The skills required to communicate effectively and build good working relationships with clients and other stakeholders
• Knowledge of SDLC techniques
• ASP.NET Core (C#)
• SPA Web Development (React + Typescript)
• Database SQL skills (SQL Server or/and Oracle)
• System Integrations (RESTful APIs or/and SOAP or/and GraphQL)
• Development patterns & practices (MVC/inversion of control/coupling/etc.)

Desirable

• Cloud Development (Azure/AWS)
• Experience in the electricity and gas energy market will be highly regarded.
• Formal IT education/training
• System design and architecture
