Development of Diagnostics Test Codes/ Suite for Next Generation GPU
Overview
Development of Diagnostics Suites for test and validation of hardware IP blocks like Graphics/ Compute engine, Video encoding/decoding, PCIE, Memory, Display etc in AMD’s Advanced Graphics Processor Unit (GPU) for production system level test, system product validation as well as for customer production test in the lead up to the success of AMD GPU product launch into market. The Diagnostics suites developed are used in virtually all aspects of the product development lifecycle, from pre-silicon validation through the production life of the product to launching to customer’s platforms.
Main project scopes, stating tasks/roles expected of Coop
- Responsible for development of AMD GPU diagnostics suites and/or diagnostics test codes that may include code development in object-oriented programs and/or test suites building, testing, and debugging for production.
- Participate in AMD’s next generation GPU ASIC Bring-up and enable Diagnostics tests for production SLT (system level test) and ASIC qualification suites.
- Work with Design, IP owners, Platforms and Product Engineering on design functional and performance verification as well as production test and charaterizations requirements.
- Debug of diagnostics issue working closely with internal and external AMD teams.
- Involved in the Development of Automation of Diagnostics Suite release process
- May be assigned to GPU IP Diagnostics team working Diagnostics test code development in object-oriented programs
- Works on related projects and/or assignments as required to help with improving productivity and efficiency.
What the Coop can expect to learn from this project
- Overview of AMD GPU Architecture design & technology.
- Gain hands-on experience in development & debug of Diagnostics suite/ IP test codes for GPU test & validation
- Learn the know-how and gain insights into How to Test all the advanced IP blocks in GPU at system level of a complex and advanced semiconductor IC product.
- Knowledge and experience in Linux, Python, Perl script
- Good in C/C++ Programming Language
- Some knowledge in PC architecture/ hardware is advantage
- Willing to learn, Self-motivated, Independent and Resourceful.
