The Aggregators, Marketplaces, and Platforms (AMP) Partner Management Team is one of the fastest growing teams within Global Merchant and Network Services. They are responsible for managing relationships with some of the industry’s most innovative FinTech companies such as Stripe, Square, PayPal, Adyen, among others. The team’s goal is to drive merchant card acceptance and grow volume through creative partnership solutions. This role comes with great exposure to C-suite leadership both internally and externally.
This position is responsible for managing the day to day partner relationship, while providing strategic thought leadership, leading key negotiations, supporting senior level relationships and driving profitable business initiatives with these global accounts. Defining and executing the global strategy to drive continued American Express growth with these global partners will be a critical component of the role. The role reports into the Director of Partnerships for the AMP team within Merchant Services U.S. – Partner Acquisition and Capabilities.
Key areas of focus:
Help strategically position American Express – key lead for partner business development discussions and negotiations; internal point of contact for other American Express groups that work with these partners.
Prepare C-suite briefings and presentations as needed as this role comes with exposure to the Executive Committee.
Global coordination and internal point of contact for other internal groups that work with these partners.
Proactively interpret the evolving landscape of emerging payments models and formulate a perspective on how American Express must adapt and evolve in parallel.
Align internal strategy for advancing adoption of American Express digital assets across partners.
Serve as the internal lead for key contract negotiations with partners located within the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
Unlock Card Member spend in partnership with our merchant acquiring partners by driving merchant coverage (new locations in force) and activating spend at existing merchants.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Strong business acumen and presentation skills – consulting background is a plus.
Strategic thinker with ability to work through complex business and operational problems and identify clear action plans to drive results.
Quick learner who is comfortable with ambiguity and able to apply critical thinking and problem solving to complex issues.
Excellent client relationship skills with demonstrated ability to influence business partners.
Proven influencing and negotiation skills.
Proficient in identifying and driving new opportunities that advance and deepen our relationships.
Proven ability to collaborate and drive change within your organization.
Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills a must.
Detail oriented project management skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts and initiatives in parallel.
Experience in the emerging payments and payment processing industry a plus.
3-6 years relevant business experience required.
Bachelor’s degree required, MBA a plus.
