As a Sourcing Specialist, you will be responsible for leading efforts in exploring, initiating, developing, and validating opportunities for quality improvements, cost savings, and other sourcing-related opportunities. You will act as the technical interface between suppliers and Manufacturing to determine new and alternative sources and will work with internal team members to negotiate terms to capitalize on cost reduction opportunities.
What you will do:
Have continuous involvement in the improvement of the Supplier Selection Processes to develop a supply base that provides a competitive advantage in quality, value, cost, delivery, etc.
Review supplier processes and identify improvement opportunities
Work with Engineering to ensure technical documents meet requirements and all expectations are communicated effectively
Investigate alternate component technologies for reduced cost or improved quality and reliability and implement changes in collaboration with other departments
Conduct supplier audits in compliance with business objectives
Work with relevant internal team members on Materials Quotation Analysis to quote new and existing materials
Work with team to requote and negotiate to capitalize on cost reduction opportunities
Continuously reduce the cost of materials by limiting unfavorable Purchase Price Variance (PPV/MPV)
Review supplier capacity planning and create a necessary action plan to address the business requirement
What we are looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field
3+ years of experience in strategic sourcing activities, preferably in a production field
Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and competent to perform supplier/process audits; Knowledge of various quality tools and systems, and capable of proposing guidance to suppliers to resolve quality problems
Understanding mechanical manufacturing processes i.e., machining, casting, sheet metal, fabrication, injection molding, extrusion, fasteners, high-level assembly, etc.
Good understanding of several basic measurement equipment devices
Understanding of technical drawings, and capable of interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings within industry standards
Able to perform advanced mathematical calculations
Deep understanding and hands-on experience in manufacturing process control and quality systems
Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems
Able to travel domestically and internationally as needed (~20%)
