We are looking for a full-time Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our Application Services team that builds and supports highly scalable and reliable infrastructure for Anonyome apps. This role would suit an experienced Infrastructure engineer with a strong background in Performance and Availability Engineering, Infrastructure automation and large-scale Distributed Systems Design & Engineering.

Requirements:

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Monitor and continually improve the capacity of our production environment’s infrastructure
• Investigate and fix performance and scalability bottlenecks
• Design and build features and tools to support performance and capacity planning
• Design and implement monitoring and other preventative technology to ensure availability of production environments
• Create, maintain and enhance environments and tools that enable continuous delivery and deployment of secure software environments
• Respond to alerts from production systems, identify and resolve root causes in a timely fashion
• Perform proactive maintenance of systems, including planning, patching and performance optimisation
• Implement and manage cloud-based and on-premise systems supporting Anonyome Service operations
• Ability to prescribe a high-level problem description and produce an objective proposal for one or more candidate solutions
• Ability to participate in shared on call support roster

Requirements:

Must haves:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Software Engineering and/or IT roles
• Demonstrable experience working in an Ops role (DevOps, Sysadmin, Site Reliability Engineer)
• Strong experience with Linux systems and shell programming
• Experience with either Python or JavaScript programming
• Experience with Amazon Web Services
• Integration with, and the management of, systems and services via REST API
• Great problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to apply critical thinking in a timely manner
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Ability to self educate and present new ideas to the wider team
• Ability to manage and meet deadlines
• Ability to apply strategic thinking to issues of load and scale

Bonus Points:

• Undergraduate degree in computer science, IT, software engineering or similar
• Strong experience ensuring the resilience of scalable cloud-first environments
• Experience with Amazon Well-Architected tenets
• Experience with Chaos Monkey or similar resilience testing tools
• Experience with ESX server maintenance and setup
• Experience with: Java, TypeScript, MongoDB, Maven, Microservice Architecture
• Experience with: Git, Git Pipelines, JIRA, OpsGenie, Jenkins, SonarQube
