BUS INFO ANALYST SR

Business Information Analyst Sr is responsible for working hand-in-hand with various Government Business Division Health Plan departments, to interpret and translate their business needs into requirements for pulling data and creating reports. The BIAS writes unique SQL queries to pull-back data for summary, presentation and sometimes interpretation. Some amount of summary statistical procedures will be employed by the BIAS.

How you will make an impact: Primarily, the BIAS develops and delivers business performance reports (e.g. for claims, provider, care management and member data) and supplies them to the Health Plan departments or other internal business partners. Additionally, the creation and publication of periodic reports and necessary ad hoc reports falls squarely under the BIAS’ purview. In short, the BIAS works to translate business requirements into usable decision support tools that take the form of SQL/Excel-based datasets and reports. The primary focus of the BIAS can be broken-down into the following 2 sub categories; – Data: Collecting and formatting raw data and translating it into a digestible format, such as a summary / pivot table, graph or chart. Think: reports used in daily business activities / processes, detail data lists behind those reports (80% of BIAS’ workload) – Analytics: The discovery, interpretation, and communication of meaningful patterns in the data. Analytics applies data patterns towards effective decision-making. Think: trending, forecasting, dashboards, etc. (20% of BIAS’ workload)

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: – Requires a BS/BA degree in related field and a minimum of 3 years data analysis or related experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences: – Experience writing SQL codes/Queries – Strong knowledge in Excel (V-lookups, complex/pivot/charts/graphs) – Experience with relational databases and knowledge of query tools and statistical software is strongly preferred. – ability to manipulate large sets of data is strongly preferred. – Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills are strongly preferred.
