Early Childhood Director – Prek for All and 3K for All Program – Christ the King School, Bronx, NY – Hiring now for School Year 2022-23

The Office of Early Childhood of the Archdiocese of NY is inviting committed and talented early childhood educators to apply to lead the Prek for All and 3K for All program at Christ the King School, located on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx. Over the past fifty seven years, Christ the King has been a beacon for the Concourse Village community in the South Bronx. The alumni of Christ the King School continue to refer to our school as “home” and share the great success stories of their lives. Each story credits the values and enriching experiences they had at our beloved school.

The Early Childhood (EC) Director will be part of the school leadership team and report to the school principal. In addition, the EC will be part of a cohort of ADNY Education Directors working in Catholic schools and will receive coaching and training through the ADNY Office of Early Childhood and the NYC DOE.

• Knowledge and understanding of New York State Early Childhood Learning Standards
• Knowledge and understanding of the NYC Early Childhood Framework for Quality
• Understanding of and respect for the developmental, cultural, and linguistic diversity that is part of the richness of the NYC early childhood landscape
• High expectations for instruction and social emotional support for all students
• Ability to successfully lead and coach early childhood staff using research-based best practices aligned with the highest rating expectations of ECERS-3 and CLASS
• Commitment to leading staff in providing rich and meaningful family engagement support and resources so as to promote the extension of learning in the home
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, verbal and written communication skills

Core Roles/Responsibilities:

The Early Childhood Program Director serves as the Instructional Leader for the early childhood program in an ADNY elementary school. In this role he/she:

• Ensures program compliance with the NYC PKFA/3K Policy and Procedures
• Ensures high quality implementation of the NYC DOE Units of Instruction
• Ensures the implementation of Positive Behavior Guidance, as per PFKA/3K guidelines
• Supervises staff in providing a program that meets the varied needs of the children and families served by the program.
• Conducts daily walk-throughs, models best practices and provides formative feedback to staff
• Trains and coaches teaching staff to meet program standards
• Uses ECERS and CLASS evaluations to plan for and implement ongoing program support
• Works with school Principal to evaluate staff performance
• Uses student and program assessment data to work with staff to meet the needs of all students
• Manages and assists in timely completion of all paperwork relating to PKFA/3KFA

Qualifications:

• Master of Education in Early Childhood, Early Childhood Special Education or a related field (required)
• Current New York State Teaching Certification in Early Childhood or Childhood Teaching (required)
• At least 3-5 years of experience as a teacher with classroom experience including 3 years of experience as a Lead Teacher in an Early Childhood classroom (required)
• Experience working successfully in an inclusive and diverse work environment
• Proficient in the use of technology (social media, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, ability to learn various educational communication platforms)
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred
• Bilingual language skills preferred
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (required)
