Job Summary:

Jr. Underwriter

Specialty Commercial Finance Company is seeking a Jr. Underwriter to analyze the creditworthiness of a potential small business applicant including a review of credit reports, organization structure, tax returns and other relevant financial information. The Underwriter will be responsible for formulating a credit recommendation based upon a review of the applicant’s data and the results of a proprietary model and then support said recommendation to the approving authority. This is an entry level position with an opportunity to gain extensive knowledge of credit analysis, business organization structures and tax return evaluation. Loan sizes range between $5,000 and $750,000.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Research, review and analyze the credit history and public records of the business and its owner via various databases and reports
• Conduct financial risk assessments including the evaluation of credit and financial data provided by the applicant
• Evaluate the Merchant’s financial condition and assess their ability to repay the loan
• Conduct an interview of the applicant (business owner)
• Make credit recommendations within a prescribed authority level
• Review Merchant’s organization documents and ensure applicant has the authority to borrow and the borrowing entity is appropriate and in good standing
• Work with Internal Auditors to evaluate the accuracy of the application
• Communicate and interact with a national salesforce of Loan originators
• Any additional responsibilities to be determined by management

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $30,000.00 per year
