Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for aADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT (OA)- T5 , Position Description Number PDT5050000 and is part of theSC UTES, South Carolina National Guard. Responsibilities This is a Title 5 National Guard Employee position description. This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4/G4). The purpose of the position is to provide a variety of administrative support, technical assistance, and participation in the management of an Army National Guard (ARNG) Maintenance and/or Logistics office by applying a good working knowledge of maintenance and/or logistics mission and programs. Knowledge of Office Automation (OA) systems to use several types of software for various office needs is required. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC): This is a Title 5 “Excepted Service ” position under the authority of Title V, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA)”, and is open to US citizens interested in helping the Department of the Army meet our mission requirements. This position is open to Area 1 Only. Please note that applicants outside of these categories may not be considered. First Area: Current permanent employees of the South Carolina Army National Guard. Second Area: Current members of the South Carolina Army National Guard. Third Area: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Army National Guard. *Temporary and Indefinite employees do not meet permanent tenure requirements and are not eligible for Area 1. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates the candidate’s ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 12 months experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or laws. Experience that provided a working knowledge of administrative functions. Experience demonstrating the ability to advise lower graded employees. Experience working independently and setting priorities with very little supervisory control. *Other Requirements – For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. The incumbent of this position description must have, at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment. 2. This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG. Education Substitution of Education for specialized experience: Completion of 2 academic years of education in an accredited college or university will satisfy the requirements for GS-4 positions. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience for GS-5 positions. You must include the diploma and transcripts to support the education. Failure to do so could impact your consideration.
