Responsible for overseeing the security, privacy, and accuracy of the Medical Records department and Medical Records staff. In carrying out the position’s requirements, confidential working relationships with management, clinical staff, administrative staff, and clients must be maintained. Exercise sound judgment and discretion, demonstrate initiative, and adhere to professional boundaries, loyalty, cooperation, and dependability when performing assigned tasks and responsibilities.
- Protect the privacy of clinical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained
- Supervise Medical Records Team
- Perform quality assurance reviews by completing regular chart audits to ensure the completeness and accuracy of medical records documents
- Ensuring HIPAA regulations are being met by fulfilling requests to access treatment information within required timeframes and documenting such disclosures according to HIPAA requirements.
- Consult with the Clinic Lead regarding complex records requests or records management issues.
- Promotes and maintains a flexible, positive, team-oriented, and customer-focused attitude within and between departments
- Effectively represent the agency to the public
- Maintain files where discretion is involved in assigning items to their proper places
- Communicate effectively in the English language, including verbal & written communication with both internal & external contacts
- Exercise sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and good decision-making abilities
- Interpret and apply standards, regulations, policies, and procedures relative to this position
- Retrieve paper charts from off-site storage facilities (reliable transportation is needed for this)
- Multi-task and work effectively under pressure in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

Requirements
- 3 years of experience supervising a team
- 5 years of customer service experience
- Computer proficiency using Word, Excel, and various software packages with proficiency in keyboarding skills
