We’re looking for a career-minded individual with some banking / lending / underwriting experience to support our consumer lending growth. The credit union will provide ongoing training and support in the position, encouraging the employee’s growth and development with the possibility of expanding into home equity lines and loans and mortgage underwriting as well.

Reporting to the VP of Lending, represent the financial interests of both our Members and the Credit Union, the Consumer Loan Underwriter will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, underwriting and decisioning consumer loan requests with considerable loan authority, following all credit union policies and procedures and Federal and State rules and regulations, and ensure a timely turnaround on all credit applications.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

• Review credit applications for various types of consumer loans and analyze applicable information (credit reports, collateral valuation, etc.) to render credit decisions in accordance with current lending policies. Use discretionary judgment for credit decisions not conforming to lending policies consulting with Lending Manager or VP of Lending as necessary.
• Resolve questions regarding application data via L.O.s and inform of credit decisions in a timely manner.
• Develop and maintain interest-rate structure that is consistent with credit union policies and is competitive with current market and obtain final approval for all rate changes.
• Handle loans of highest complexity, value, and risk with extra caution, consulting with the Lending Manager or VP of Lending as needed.
• Observe approval limits on loan amounts (individual limits to be set by Lending Manager), getting final approval for larger loans from the Lending Manager or VP of Lending as needed.
• Respond to and resolve all loan inquiries in a timely manner and facilitate assistance from other staff.
• Assist and help train new consumer loan underwriters and originators as needed.
• Proactively seek other lending opportunities for each credit applicant.
• Identify needs for, and assist in the development of, new consumer loan products.
• Constantly develop greater knowledge in all areas of credit union operations.
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Credit Unions policies and procedures as well as regulations and compliance, both state and federal as they pertain to consumer lending.
• Attend and participate in all required compliance training.
• Assist Lending Manager and VP of Lending in performing other duties and responsibilities as needed to ensure organizational success.
• Adhere to Credit Unions service standards and values and represent the Credit Union in a professional and friendly manner, both internally and within the community

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $43,680.00 – $54,080.00 per year
