Auckland Council is thrilled to announce their new partnership with Unitec. We have developed the Earn as You Learn programme for students enrolled in the New Zealand Diploma of Sport, Recreation and Exercise – Community Sport and Recreation.

Students will have an opportunity to apply for part time positions at one of our busy leisure centres around Auckland.

This work-connected pathway will give you the opportunity to earn while you learn, similar to a paid internship or an apprenticeship.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn as there is never a dull moment at our busy and fun-filled facilities and you will play a key part in ensuring that all customers have an enjoyable but safe experience.

We offer internal training for you to develop into various positions within our leisure centres, including Lifeguards, Learn to Swim Instructors, Recreation Assistants, Customer Service Reps and more.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You will be a current student at Unitec undertaking the New Zealand Diploma in Sport, Recreation and Exercise – Community Sport and Recreation.

You will already have a love for sports, recreation and aquatics; be committed to supporting the community safety and wellbeing. You will also be ready to step into frontline customer service roles, with clear and effective communication skills.

Pool and Leisure Centres operate 7 days a week, reliability and availability to work early, late and weekend shifts will be appreciated.
