He angitūtanga: The opportunity
If you’re an experienced project professional, we would like you to consider joining the Public Art team within the Service, Strategy & Partnerships unit of Auckland Council. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the community and inspire passion through art and keep people engaged.
The team is responsible for the planning and delivery of public art projects including permanent and temporary public art across Tāmaki Makaurau.
Central to this role is ensuring all projects are appropriately scoped, planned and delivered on time and to budget. With a collaborative approach, you’ll work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver excellent public art outcomes for Aucklanders to enjoy. Your key responsibilities in this role include project, relationship and financial management.
Your day-to-day will include working with the Public Art team to develop project briefs, plan the delivery of projects, and manage the procurement process to engage suppliers required to deliver public artworks. Excellent communication is a must, as is experience engaging with Local Boards, artists, mana whenua and other significant partners and key stakeholders.
Contract and relationship management of artists and fabricators will be fundamental to your role, and you will be required to oversee the installation of artwork.
He kōrero mōu: About you
We’re looking for someone who believes in the integration of art and everyday life; someone who is looking to broaden their project management experience and skills and ideally has a background in the creative sector or arts, supported by a relevant tertiary qualification. Strong communication skills are essential, as building and maintaining effective relationships are pivotal in this role. This role would suit someone who is pragmatic and outcomes focused. A flexible approach and confidence in your own decision-making ability will be highly regarded, as would knowledge of art in Aotearoa and Tikanga Māori.
Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer
This is a great opportunity to flex your creative talent and deliver on exciting and visionary projects in a unique role. Don’t miss your chance to join a team that are at the forefront of integrating arts and culture into the everyday lives of Aucklanders, and enabling them to experience their city in new ways.
