Auckland Council Looking for Keeper Multi Team at Auckland City Full Time

An ambitious capital development programme was recently initiated, one which will deliver new infrastructure across the zoo and a remarkable transformation to much of the site – this is our #FutureZoo.

As an Multi Team Keeper, you will work as part of a team responsible for the daily husbandry and management of our exotic ungulates – zebra, giraffe, nyala, waterbuck and rhinoceros.

To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate all of the following:

• Experience with the husbandry, welfare of exotic ungulates or have an equine or farming background
• Certificate in Captive Wildlife Management and/or Bachelor of Applied Sciences or equivalent experience
• Proven ability in carrying out daily keeping duties to a high standard ensuring all husbandry and welfare needs are met
• Exposure to training and conditioning and behavioural enrichment
• Self-motivation and demonstration of good teamwork
• Effective communication skills and the ability to perform public animal encounters

This is a part-time role 20 hours per week, working on a rotating roster system including weekends and public holidays. A high level of energy and physical fitness will enable you to meet the daily challenges of the role.
