Auckland Health Jobs Looking for Social Worker, Starship Child Health at Auckland City, Auckland Full Time
We are seeking expressions of interest for an exciting Social Work opportunity at Starship Child Health, for an experienced Social Worker to work alongside children and their families in a health environment and become part of the dedicated social work team at Starship Child Health. This is a permanent full-time role.

The Paediatric Social Work team provides psychosocial assessment and intervention to support successful adaptation to hospitalisation and diagnosis. We also support people during periods of grief, loss and relationship support; family violence assessment and intervention, crisis intervention and management and the management of difficult and complex family situations. Services are provided from Monday to Friday and an on-call weekend service is a critical part of overall service delivery.
This is a time of service innovation in health care so the capacity to actively participate in helping forge new ways of delivering services, particularly in primary care, and in partnership with the NGO sector would be a huge advantage.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:
- The capacity to initiate, support and contribute to enhanced service delivery, including the capacity to ‘think outside the box’ in order to solve complex problems
- Experience in child protection & family violence work, particularly within a health environment and/or an ability to adapt to new working environments
- Experience of grief and loss work
- Awareness and capacity to work effectively with multiple ethnicities and cultures
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team environment
- You will have a Social Work qualification recognised by the Social Work Registration Board in New Zealand
- SWRB registration and a current APC
