The Bureau undertakes research in fulfillment of its responsibilities as a national research agency, contributing to the development of weather and climate applications for the needs of the Australian community, supporting the Bureau’s operational services, and advancing meteorological and earth system science in Australia and globally.

As a Software Infrastructure Engineer within the Next Generation Modelling team, you will uplift and redefine the way that the Bureau develops and delivers forecasting systems, championing and driving change that accelerates the Bureau’s ability to rapidly update and improve our forecasting systems using modern software design and development methodologies.

The Next Generation Modelling team supports, develops and delivers computing infrastructure to support the program’s portfolio of research and development activities, and we are looking for an innovative and highly motivated software developer to join the team. The ideal candidate will possess strong software development skills, experience working with large and complex codes, and the ability to develop effective working relationships across the program. Through training and on-the-job learning, you will become an expert in the next generation of models and be part of the team that will deliver improved forecasts and services to all of Australia.
