Pay: 18.36 Euros per hour

The Australian Embassy, Dublin is currently seeking expressions of interest from persons interested in short term casual work in a Passports and Consular capacity. Please note that candidates must have the right to work in the EU.

The casual contract is anticipated to be for a period of up to 8 months to work as and when required. The hourly rate is €18.36 and is due to commence immediately.

About the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia’s security, enhancing Australia’s prosperity, delivering an effective and high-quality overseas aid program, and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas.

The Department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia’s pursuit of global, regional, and bilateral interests.

About the position

This position provides passport services to Australians residing in or visiting Ireland. This position also undertakes general administrative duties and provides corporate support to the team within the Embassy, including reception services, as required.

The key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Provide a range of passport services to Australian citizens in accordance with the Australian Passports Act, including client interviews, preparing documentation and processing applications, checking guarantors, financial transactions, providing advice and managing casework.
• Liaise with clients and respond to telephone and written enquiries from members of the public.
• Coordinate appointment bookings, including rescheduling as required.
• Provide reception services, including responding to general enquiries from members of the public, directing callers within the Embassy.
• Coordinating and performing other administrative duties as required.
• Provide backup support to other staff within the Embassy as required.

Qualifications/Experience

• Ability to deliver high quality outcomes for clients and provide a prompt, efficient and professional service.
• Demonstrated experience providing administrative support.
• Ability to obtain a sound working knowledge of the guidelines, policies and legislation governing the provision of passport and consular services
• Sound organisational skills and an ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proven ability to provide accurate and timely information with a focus on attention to detail.
• Ability to work cooperatively within a small team and willingness to build productive working relationships.
• Well-honed initiative and an ability to think flexibility and exercise discretion when dealing with sensitive matters.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications.
• Coordinating and performing other administrative duties as required
