Autumn Compass is an algorithmic trading firm combining the disciplines of software engineering, data science and economic theory to develop highly automated and profitable trading strategies. With no external clients, a flat management structure and an SRE culture in the team, engineers have the latitude and support to innovate effectively and make an impact throughout the business.

As an Algorithmic Trading Developer, you will bring trading strategies to life, from inception to implementation, following up with analysis and refinement. We believe in quick experimentation, scientific reasoning and delving into the technical complexities of the systems we interact with to find our competitive advantage.

The role is based in Sydney CBD, but with very flexible working from home options.

Salary: $120,000 base +super + profit share

What you will do:

• Directly participate in the design, deployment and execution of trading strategies across diverse markets.
• Design technical solutions against rapidly evolving market platforms. Delve into technical details across the full stack in order to gain a competitive edge.
• Collaborate with other highly motivated engineers who will provide you with hands-on training and support.
• Take a data-driven approach to spot patterns in order to refine algorithms and optimise strategy performance.

What you bring:

• Expertise building high-performance real-time applications in languages such as Python, C++ or Go.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and technology, including networked systems and peer-to-peer technologies.
• Enthusiasm to work with new and unfamiliar technologies and a willingness to learn technical details necessary to develop highly successful trading strategies.

Highly regarded experience:

• Interest in data science and analysis and exposure to data engineering is desirable, but not necessary.
• Algorithmic or market-maker trading experience is useful but not required.
