Position Summary:

The Field Training Coordinator assists in the onboarding process of new field employees for all AVENGE locations. The Training Coordinator must clarify the skill level of all field candidates to HSE & Operations and will work to ensure the training programs meet legislated and client standards. Frequent travel throughout Alberta and Northeastern British Columbia will be necessary. This role requires excellent computer skills to run reports, analyze data, create training plans, and ability to schedule and provide training to drivers holding commercial Class 1 and Class 3 drivers license and employees progressing through commercial license from Class 5 to Class 1. The candidate must hold a Class 1 Driver License.

This is a full-time salary position as a member of our supervisory team. Salary will be based on experience. Standard hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm. Over-time as required is inclusive of the salary. On call rotational schedule to support after hours and weekend HSE requirments for all locations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conducts or arranges driving evaluations for new and existing staff to meet legislative and insurance requirements.
• Ensures that new employees are tracked for re-evaluation between hiring periods (Summer hires receive additional training prior to winter)
• Ensures all driver files are updated within electronic systems for driver competencies and retraining dates.
• Provide Class 1 and 3 driver training to swampers looking to obtain certification to provide a basis to achieve Class 1 at an approved training facility.
• Monitors training requirements for field employees based on carrier profile reviews, competency systems and logbook audits.
• Develop in-house training systems and/or material that is consistent to the AVENGE standards for inclusion in the online training system.
• Conduct in-house training sessions on the use of log books, BOL and trip inspections, including client offered systems and use of technology, to all the AVENGE employees based on the specific business unit worked for.
• Work with drivers based on log review of 10% of drivers in company having complete log book to ensure quarterly submissions are accurate into PICS system by Fleet Systems Analyst.
• Ensure and monitor that the defined training plan for each of the AVENGE competencies is measured to industry standards and company requirements per business unit.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of experience driving multiple axle configurations, remote mountain roads, and winter driving conditions, holding a current Class 1 license and clean driver abstract.
• Experience transporting fluid and TDG related product
• Experience in a similar role or HSE related considered an asset
• Must have extensive experience in field level trucking training
• Ability to direct workflow, assess performance and assign duties
• Project management and leadership skills
• Knowledge of laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Strong verbal, written and oral communication skills
• 3 years’ experienceusing Microsoft Office Suite
• First Aid and H2S Alive certification

Working Conditions:

• This position requires candidate to be mobile working in our yards, including moving commercial units around for training purposes
• This position may require training on the job and in the field
• Work in various and changing weather conditions
• Working on computer and app programs in office and on the road
• Physical labour and lifting, able to lift 50 pounds on a regular and reoccurring basis
• Travel to and from company and customer locations to perform evaluations and conduct trip inspection training outside in hot or cold work environment
