The Senior Software Engineer will be the lead for a particular scope of work, either as an architect or as a leader of a team of software engineers.

They will be responsible for delivery of that scope of work. They will take the lead technically in determining and guiding the processes, tools and methods to be applied to scope of work.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Software Engineer you will:

• Responsible for the software technical solution, whether as the software architect for that specific software item, or as the team lead of a team delivering a particular software item
• Ensure company software engineering processes are tailored to meet needs and
• Constraints of project without sacrificing the best engineering practice
• Ensure software engineering work is undertaken in accordance with project software engineering plans
• As the Senior Software Engineer, manage and track execution of Software Engineering activities with respect to Cost, Quality and Schedule requirements, or as architect, adhere to allocated cost, quality and schedule budgets
• Champion use of ‘Best Practice’ Software Engineering processes and methods across the project, and flowing project best practice back into the broader company
• Lead and manage Identification and resolution of issues associated with the execution of Software Engineering activities across the relevant scope of work
• Ensure collection and analysis of relevant Software Engineering metrics to provide timely information on the status of the software program, taking appropriate corrective action, as required
• Manage delivery of relevant software releases (builds) through the engineering lifecycle
• Provide oversight and mentoring the project’s software engineers

About you

As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you’ll have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science
• Strong experience in design, development and/or sustainment of software products using relevant Software Engineering technologies
• Experience in defining and maintain software architectures and architectural principles
• Strong understanding of a particular technology, be that a language, tool, methodology, environment, domain, algorithm, or other item
• Experience in selection and implementation of effective Software Engineering Tools,
• Ability to lead medium sized Software Engineering teams
• Ability to manage execution of software related activities with regards to Cost, Quality and Schedule
• Ability to train and mentor engineers through superior team building
• Superior communication skills to communicate with a variety of stakeholders at all levels
• Experience in estimating software engineering effort using a variety of estimation technique
• Must be eligible to apply for Australian Defence Security Clearance
