As a Social Media Marketing Coordinator Intern at Bambu, you’ll have the opportunity to unleash your creativity to help us thrive as a business on social media. 

Please note that this is an unpaid role – we would love for this position to become a paid role in the future and extend opportunities beyond the internship as we grow our business. 

We are looking for someone with expertise in social media marketing that is comfortable in front of a camera and isn’t afraid to put themselves out there. 

In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of our digital presence, driving engagement, building our brand, and connecting with our target audience.

About Bambu:

Bambu is an Auckland-based start-up founded by three mates, Tom, Dylan, and Oliwia, who were sick of using soggy paper straws. We are providing Kiwis with sustainable straw alternatives that prioritise functionality and environmental responsibility.

Main Responsibilities and Tasks:

As a Social Media Marketing Intern at Bambu, you will be responsible for:

1. Creating engaging and compelling social media content that aligns with Bambu’s brand, voice, and values. 
2. Scheduling and maintaining a consistent presence on various social media platforms.
3. Driving engagement and social traffic by actively interacting with followers, responding to comments and messages, and initiating conversations.
4. Growing brand awareness by implementing strategic social media campaigns and initiatives.
5. Monitoring social media trends and staying updated on industry best practices to optimise content and engagement strategies.
6. Conducting social media analytics and reporting to track performance, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.

Social Media Platforms:

You will primarily be managing and assisting with social media platforms such as:

• Facebook
• Instagram
• Threads
• TikTok
• Pinterest
• LinkedIn

KPIs:

Maintaining brand consistency and engaging with the target audience are crucial aspects of this role. You will be expected to:

• Ensure that all social media content aligns with Bambu’s brand identity, values, and messaging.
• Develop a deep understanding of Bambu’s target audience and create content that resonates with them.
• Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and engaging manner.
• Proactively initiate conversations and interactions with followers to foster a sense of community and loyalty.

Skills We’re Looking For:

To excel as a Social Media Marketing Coordinator Intern at Bambu, the following skills and experience are essential:

1. Independent Thinking and Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to think critically, work autonomously, and find creative solutions to challenges. Proactive in staying updated with industry trends and adapting strategies accordingly.
2. Knowledge of Social Media Platforms: Proficiency in managing and navigating popular social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, Pinterest and LinkedIn. Familiarity with platform-specific features, algorithms, and best practices.
3. Social Media Trends and Optimisation: Up-to-date knowledge of current social media trends, emerging platforms, and the ability to optimise content for maximum reach and engagement.
4. Analytics and Reporting: Experience in utilising social media analytics tools (e.g., Facebook Insights, Google Analytics) to monitor performance metrics, analyse data, and generate insightful reports. Ability to identify trends, make data-driven recommendations and measure the success of social media campaigns.
5. Creativity: Strong creative thinking skills to develop engaging and visually appealing social media content. Ability to brainstorm and generate innovative ideas to captivate the target audience.
6. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey brand messaging, engage with followers, and maintain a consistent brand voice. Ability to adapt communication style to different platforms and target audiences.

Job Specifics:

Duration: July → September

3 months (possibility to extend on a person-by-person basis)

Hours: Part-time

16 hours per week

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility of working both remotely and in person with the co-founders.
