Bando is a global leader in manufacturing world-class power transmission belts to automotive OEMs’ as well as aftermarket distributors. Bando makes belts for 6 of the top 10 cars, and 5 of the top 10 light trucks sold in the USA today. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer who can deliver detailed analytical concepts and then back up those concepts with written justification. This is a hands on role. The successful candidate for this position will be able to take a project from the conceptual stage through to completion, taking into account budgeting and operational considerations. The ideal candidate will have previous Tier 1 automotive manufacturing experience in an engineering capacity.

Essential Functions

1. Mechanical root cause analysis and problem solving

2. Analyzes product, process and technology to determine the best methods of manufacture

3. Assists in the design and building of tools and equipment or recommends improvements to existing processes

4. Assists maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of specialized equipment

5. Troubleshoots special maintenance and equipment problems

6. Coordinates machinery upgrade projects

7. Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.

8. Keeps equipment operational by following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; requesting repair service.

9. Maintains product data base by writing computer programs; entering data.

10. Completes projects by training and guiding technicians.

11. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

12. Operates production machineries including welders, grinders and fabrication equipment.

13. Statistical method to be used to derive optimum processing conditions for our products.

14. Analyze the cause of defect (defect / machine failure) and implement appropriate measures.

15. Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:
16. Provide safe general facility maintenance and repair.

17. Provide safe repairs and modifications to plant equipment.

18. Research repair parts.

19. Responsible for reading, understanding and interpretation of blueprints, sketches and drawings.

20. Responsible for safely calibrating, maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting instrumentation and equipment for laboratory and manufacturing plant to ensure conformance to establish calibration standards.

21. Troubleshooting and repairing industrial ovens, HVAC systems and air compressors.

22. Maintain computer-controlled motion of equipment during maintenance process, applying knowledge of program controls.

23. Modifies sketches or computer-generated designs of machine components, such as hydraulic system and drive mechanism, applying knowledge of shop mathematics, hydraulics, and mechanics, utilizing computer and software programs.

24. Actively participate in assigned safety related initiatives.

25. Participate in and maintain departmental shop 6S standards.

Education Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred

Qualifications

1. Ability to read Layout and Detailed Assembly Drawings, mark up and make corrections as needed

2. Computer literacy is a must, various programs including but not limited to MS office, CAD, and others based on assignment, advanced math skills is required.

3. Must be highly organized and able to prioritize.

4. Strong focus on safety both personal and for others.

5. Capable of working in and maintaining clean, organized environment.

6. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team environment.

7. Ability to apply common sense, understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form.

8. Ability to do wiring work or give appropriate instructions for installation to be done by outside contractors.

Physical / Mental Requirements / Working Conditions

1. The ability to walk, stand, turn, climb, kneel, sit for extended periods, reach, lift, carry, push, talk, hear and see.

2. Must be able to use hands, wrists and fingers.

3. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 30 LBS.

4. Some exposure to tooling equipment noise.

5. Mental requirements include, but are not limited to, the ability to concentrate, take initiative, cope with stress, adapt to and stay alert in a business environment and use independent judgment to accomplish all duties and responsibilities.
