TheCenter for Human Rights and the Arts (https://chra.bard.edu/) (CHRA) at Bard College seeks a part-time Operations Manager. The Operations Manager will be responsible for CHRA’s administrative and communications needs internally, with relevant Bard offices and persons, across theOSUN (https://opensocietyuniversitynetwork.org/) network, and with the general public. This includes maintaining and updating the Center’s existing calendar, filing system, website, and social media accounts (including the creation of visual materials). They will also document and promote team meetings and public events, and manage the production of publications (most notably the annual edited volume in the Talks in Human Rights Series). The Operations Manager’s administrative duties will include responding to general phone and email inquiries, drafting and distributing the Center’s newsletter twice a year, and drafting the Center’s periodic grant reports. They will draft and distribute the Center’s annual calls for fellowships, workshops, and grants, facilitate the work of related selection committees, set up interviews, and communicate decisions. Equally important will be their role in tracking, documenting, and liaising with awardees to ensure compliance with the terms of the awards.
The Operations Manager will be responsible for submitting and tracking all payment requests related to their activities while also maintaining and updating and tracking those expenditures as part of CHRA’s overall budget management system. They will work closely with and under the supervision of the Director of the Center and the Director of MA Program, collaborating with all other team members and contributing to the life of the Center, while being the main point of contact for outside visitors. This is a benefits-eligible position.
Qualifications
Experience in office administration (preferably in artistic, educational, or human rights advocacy settings).
Experience in budget management and tracking, including supply purchases, vendor payments, and funds disbursement.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Excel in particular), Google platforms, and Mailchimp.
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks and projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (with publications editing experience a plus).
Experience in documenting and marketing events (on social media in particular).
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required by CHRA calendar of events.
Open, adaptable, and collaborative personality.
Candidates must be located in the region or willing to relocate.
Valid driver’s license and car are encouraged as public transportation is not reliable in the region.

It hosts an international M.A. Program in Human Rights and the Arts. The center teaches, studies, and engages innovative art practices that investigate human rights violations and grassroots activism that uses creative tools of resistance.
