ABOUT THE ROLE
Barker College is currently seeking an experienced Software Engineer (C#) based at our Hornsby campus.
This will be a Permanent Full-Time role commencing immediately.

The Barker College ICT Team is embarking on exciting changes in the Azure space and developing projects supporting staff, students, parents, and the wider Barker community. Work in a department w ideas and solutions are encouraged and valued. See your work through from design to implementation, take ownership of the automation and streamlining of operations and processes.

Combined with the promotion of culture and practice that aims at unifying software development and software operation within the School.
This role is responsible for application development, building and maintenance of Barker’s ICT operations including:
- Create, augment, and integrate information systems by designing, developing, and deploying software solutions.
- Provide automation and streamlining of ICT operations and processes.
- Develop and maintain the School’s Azure platform to allow the school to leverage and deploy purpose-built business solutions rapidly and securely
- Develop and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards and performance metrics support that support key business decisions and performance metrics
- Develop and manage DevOps software lifecycle and release plans and process
- Identify and promote the definition and reuse of common business processes and practices
- Champion documentation, development and coding standards and quality of the implemented software systems
- Promote and contribute to conceptual analysis, definition, and documentation of requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, and interfaces with internal and external systems
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR
- Proficient experience, understanding, and knowledge of C# and SQL
- Proven record as a .NET Developer
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Collaborative mindset to solutions design
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure, establish priorities and achieve weekly goals
- Azure integration and exposure across services such as Functional Apps, App Service, API Management, Logic Apps
- Lateral thinking
- Ability to work both independently and as a proactive member of a team
- Ability to support the Christian values and ethos of the school
- And interest in current technology trends, especially in how they relate to education and learning.
WHAT WILL HELP YOU STAND OUT
- 3+ years of public cloud experience (Azure preferred)
- Working knowledge of source control (git preferred)
- REST API development experience
- Exposure to TDD / CI/CD / DevOps (Azure DevOps preferred)
