We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our Engineering team in Whakatāne as a Survey Cadet. This is a fantastic opportunity for a keen and willing individual to learn from and work alongside our team of experienced professionals to gain valuable practical experience whilst studying towards your surveying qualification.
Te āhuatunga a te tūranga | About the role
Reporting to the Surveying Team Leader, as a Survey Cadet you will primarily be conducting engineering surveying specific work, undertaking flood monitoring duties and conducting rivers and drainage survey investigations. There will be plenty of field work for you to do and you will have the opportunity to get involved in several of our fascinating programmes and technical projects for river schemes, drainage, coastal and soil conservation activities.
You may also be required to undertake site inspections, in which case a work-based vehicle will be provided for you to do so, and if required, we’ll also put you through four-wheel driving training.
The successful candidate will be enrolled in a Diploma of Surveying or Civil Engineering course and will be expected to progress through the course to completion. All course fees and expenses are covered by Bay of Plenty Regional Council Toi Moana.
