We are looking for a Senior Delivery Manager to join our Children’s & Education team and grow our community of delivery specialists at the BBC.

Our delivery community is part of the BBC’s Product Group responsible for the design, development, and delivery of the BBC’s diverse portfolio of digital products. Loved and used by millions these are some of the largest and highest profile digital products in the UK. Our teams build iPlayer, Sounds, BBC News, Sport, Children’s, Bitesize and supporting services. It’s an unparalleled portfolio and now is an incredibly exciting time to join us!

Within BBC’s Children’s & Education (Bitesize), our hard-working, supportive & enthusiastic multidisciplinary digital teams, all strive, to deliver amazing digital experiences that inform, educate, entertain, and help to inspire young people to fulfil their potential. Indeed, the Children’s & Education Delivery team are currently working on a significant, digital portfolio of Games & Apps project(s), with support from a range of 3rd party suppliers. We are also managing an array of internal development agile project(s) to re-imagine our online services, making them more personally relevant and fit for the future.

Subsequently, to maintain and enhance our extensive array of products & services, we are now looking for a diligent and collaborative Senior Delivery Manager to join us, who can adapt to working on multiple 3rd party projects, using sequential methods, and internal Agile development project(s), that all contribute to our departmental and wider Product Group goals.

Main Responsibilities

• Leveraging sequential project management methodologies, manage multiple 3rd party projects, within agreed tolerances levels, from inception to successful outcomes.
• With support from the BBC’s Legal & Procurement team(s), create and manage 3rd party contracts throughout the lifecycle of the project(s).
• Define and agree with key stakeholders the delivery approach, budget, plan & key outcomes.
• Ensure high quality outputs are achieved by working collaboratively with test engineering teams to manage the issue triage & resolution processes proficiently.
• From a project’s inception to completion, apply oversight and identify, monitor, and manage risks, issues, assumptions & dependencies, in a timely manner.
• Develop and maintain productive & collaborative relationships with internal & external stakeholders, using effective communication strategies.
• For our internal Agile development projects leverage Agile & Lean practices to create a great agile working environment where teams are empowered to self-organise.
• Make sure your Agile teams understand their priorities and that these align across the organisation.
• Communicate and visualise progress towards goals.
• Continually improve delivery methods and approaches to team working.
• Ensure all work is visible and there is an iterative plan to work towards.
• Pro-actively monitor resource capacity levels within the work-stream / project(s).
• Actively participate in the wider agile delivery management community.

Are you the right candidate?

• Demonstrable experience of managing multiple 3rd party projects; leading digital focused Procurement(s) end to end.
• Experience of creating and managing 3rd party contracts, with support from Commercial, Legal & Procurement functions.
• Proven experience of working collaboratively with multiple 3rd parties to deliver digital products, within agreed project thresholds.
• Extensive understanding & experience of applying the most appropriate agile & sequential project management methodologies / frameworks to a range of project(s).
• Able to work to tight deadlines, and able to adapt to changing priorities and/or direction.
• Adept at breaking down barriers for your teams with the ability to plan at a higher level and get into the detail to make things happen when needed.
• Knows how to build a culture of psychological safety in teams and can actively manage team dynamics.
• Proven experience in leading, building and motivating effective internal and / or external development project team(s), and able to influence, bridge specialisms and navigate ambiguity.
• A team player and active listener who can give clear, actionable feedback, allowing you to build trust and motivate everyone to work towards a common goal.
