BBC Hiring for Team Assistant – Children in Need at Birmingham Full Time

BBC Children in Need are looking for a Team Assistant to support our team in the Central Region. This is a 6 month fixed-term contract. The role will be based in BBC Mailbox in Birmingham and based on the BBC’s blended model of working. Interviews will be held in person at BBC, The Mailbox week commencing 12th September.

The Team Assistant plays a significant role to meet the aims of the charity across the Central Region. The role facilitates effective relationships, supports how we understand the changes the charity makes, and enables activities to maximise BBC Children in Need’s work in improving outcomes for Children and Young People.

BBC Children in Need exists to make a positive difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. Our refreshed objectives and activities will ensure the impact we have on children’s lives is front and centre of the work the charity undertakes over and above the projects and services we fund.

Main Responsibilities

The BBC Children in Need Team Assistant for the Central Region will provide the administrative core for the Central Team. You will provide high quality administrative support; high standards of customer service when dealing with applicants, grantees, fundraisers and other stakeholders, and you will support the Team’s work in better understanding the grants portfolio.

You will also

• Coordinate grant meetings and other events run by the team and make travel arrangements as necessary
• Participate as required in grant application and grant process
• Enter and maintain the accuracy of data held on the grant database, meeting set deadlines as agreed.
• Undertake contact with grant recipients and record information in line with portfolio management protocols
• Support the organisation’s influencing activities, based on learning from grant-making
• Support as needed BBC Children in Need training seminars and similar activities for grant applicants and recipients
• Support the organisation’s influencing activities, based on learning from grant-making
• Work with colleagues across the organisation to help deliver strategic initiatives

Are you the right candidate?

The BBC Children in Need Team Assistant for the Central Region will have:

• An understanding and sensitivity for the social issues that connect to BBC Children in Need’s grant-making
• Demonstrable organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and coordinate activities in a context of conflicting demands and tight deadlines
• Effective communication skills with the ability to work well with range of people at all levels
• Confidence to research, gather, analyse, collate, and present information
• Strong attention to detail
• Paid or unpaid experience of the voluntary and/or children and young people sector
• Ability to contribute effectively and positively to the team
• The ability to use own initiative with minimal supervision
• Sympathy towards the values of the BBC and BBC Children in Need

Package Description

Band: B
Contract type: Fixed-term (6 months)
Location: Birmingham UK

Salary: £23,801 – £27,000

• Note: Salary ranges are based on the BBC Career Path Framework and successful candidates will be placed appropriately within the salary range based upon their individual skills, experience and other relativities.
